Dr. Tia Ouimet is a licensed psychologist and a member of the Ordre des psychologues du Québec. She holds a doctoral degree in School and Applied Child Psychology from McGill University. Her doctoral research, conducted at the Montreal Neurological Institute, focused on sensory processing and brain development in children and adolescents on the autism spectrum. This work reflects her longstanding interest in the intersection of neuroscience and clinical care.
Dr. Ouimet is dedicated to helping children, adolescents, and young adults better understand how their brain works and how to build on their strengths. Her practice centers on thorough assessments that provide meaningful, individualized insights to support both learning and personal growth.
She brings nearly 15 years of clinical experience across hospital, school, and specialized mental health settings. Dr. Ouimet completed her clinical training in the Department of Child Psychiatry at the Jewish General Hospital and in the Intensive Psychiatric Adolescent Program at the Douglas Mental Health University Institute. Since 2017, she has been part of the team at the Montreal Neuropsychology Center (MNC), where she provides assessments for children, adolescents, and adults.
Dr. Ouimet has extensive experience supporting individuals with a wide range of neurodevelopmental, emotional, and learning profiles. She takes a whole-person approach, recognizing that each individual’s medical and developmental background can play a role in how they learn, think, and manage emotions. She has particular experience and interest in autism spectrum disorder and related challenges such as ADHD, anxiety, mood difficulties, sensory sensitivities, and differences in language, coordination, or emotion regulation.
While the core of her work focuses on assessment, Dr. Ouimet also offers brief therapeutic support and coaching when appropriate. Her clinical approach integrates cognitive-behavioural strategies, mindfulness and acceptance-based principles, and parent coaching frameworks to provide practical, individualized care that respects each child’s unique context and needs.
