Dr. Tia Ouimet is a licensed psychologist and member of the Ordre des Psychologues du Québec. She focuses on helping individuals and families better understand how they think, learn, and function in everyday life.

She specializes in comprehensive assessments for children, adolescents, and young adults, addressing neurodevelopmental, learning, and emotional profiles. Her assessments go beyond diagnosis, providing clear, individualized insights that translate into practical support for everyday functioning.

Dr. Ouimet holds a doctorate in School and Applied Child Psychology from McGill University. Her doctoral research, conducted at the Montreal Neurological Institute, examined sensory processing and brain development in autistic children and adolescents, reflecting her longstanding interest in the relationship between neuroscience and clinical care.

She brings nearly 15 years of experience across hospital, school, and specialized mental health settings. Her clinical training was completed in Child Psychiatry at the Jewish General Hospital and in the Intensive Psychiatric Adolescent Program at the Douglas Mental Health University Institute. Since 2017, she has been part of the team at the Montreal Neuropsychology Center (MNC).

Dr. Ouimet has particular expertise in autism spectrum disorder and commonly co-occurring challenges, including ADHD, anxiety, mood difficulties, sensory sensitivities, and differences in language, coordination, and emotion regulation. She takes a whole-person approach, recognizing that an individual’s developmental and medical history shapes how they think, learn, and manage emotions.

While assessment is at the heart of her practice, she also offers brief therapeutic support and coaching when appropriate. Her approach draws on cognitive-behavioural strategies, mindfulness and acceptance-based principles, and parent coaching frameworks, tailored to each individual’s context and strengths.
